Administrative Project Assistant_Ad and Job Description_Open Until Filled Municipality of the District of Chester Community Development Department Position Description Position Title: Administrative/Project Assistant Salary Band: Summer student (post-secondary) $12.00 to $14.00 per hour Reports to: Administrative Coordinator Status: Full Time – Term (expected to run May-August concurrent with University and College Summer break period) Location: Chester, NS, with occasional travel within the Municipal District Hours: Normally, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Updated: February 20, 2018 SCOPE The Administrative/Project Assistant is a full-time summer term position that provides administrative and technical support to the Community Development Department. QUALIFICATIONS  Currently enrolled in a Full Time College or University program in Office Administration, Planning, Construction or a related discipline.  Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with data entry programs would be an asset. SUMMARY OF FUNCTION The Administrative/Project Assistant primary work will be:  To provide administrative support to the Administrative Coordinator by: o Assisting in maintaining a variety of logs and records on permits, fees and inspection schedules; o Providing applicants with appropriate application forms and information on obtaining building permits, and reviewing forms for basic completion; o Greeting members of the public and answering the telephone/transferring calls as needed; o Provide backup support and holiday relief to the Administrative Coordinator as required.  May assist the Economic Development Officer with various projects and consultations as required. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS  Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly with the public.  Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.  Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.  Show a willingness and aptitude to learn new skills.
